Dakota Canoe is located in Garretson, South Dakota at the city park. We rent canoes on the upper side of Split Rock Creek and the lower side to Palisades State Park. In the near future, we plan to expand into paddleboat rentals too.

Garretson has a connection to Jesse James in its history. This is where Jesse jumped the gorge after robbing the Northfield, Minnesota bank.

So come & experience this wonderful journey in the gorge, where Jesse James jumped, the river to escape the sheriff & the posse. Also visit our links to other local Garretson area business & tourist attractions.

Dakota Canoes even rents canoes for use on the Big Sioux River in Dell Rapids, South Dakota area. Come travel the adventures of Lewis & Clark return, after their exploration of the Pacific West.

Our expected hours of operation are from sunrise to sunset, 7 days a week. We expect to open @May 20, 2007 until Sept 20, 2007. We have reasonable rates and all safety equipment is included in the price. The average price for a 3-4 hour float trip is $35.00 for two people which includes pick-up & return to your vehicle. We have discounts on large group reservations.
